Load Bearing Wall Removal on Lime Ave @ Long Beach
This project started off with the intention of changing it into a commercial lounge, but the city did not approve the conversion from residential to commercial. We then helped the owner design it into a residential home of his liking. This building was historical and there was issues with demolishing the brick walls and red-wood ceiling.
The owner wanted to eliminate an old load bearing wall to arrange his rooms to his liking with non-load bearing walls. We did a structural inspection and eliminated the wall by placing three Steel HSS posts anchored down by an enlarged reinforced concrete pad all connected to a Parallam PSL Engineered Beam using Strong-Tie connections.
Once this beam is constructed the owner can arrange walls dividing the rooms of his home however he likes.
